Mayor Hartfiel is currently working to identify Crescent Springs community members that will sit on the steering committee for the Z21 process.   This will be a year or more long commitment with bimonthly meetings with PDS staff, and perhaps more meetings on our own. The meetings with staff are generally in the evenings at PDS. The City of Crescent Springs will be updating existing zoning codes that were adopted decades ago. The City of Villa Hills is the first in Kenton County passing the new ordinance. We have received an email from PDS that it is finally time to start tailoring and implementing the new Z21 Zoning Ordinance for Crescent Springs. The process will tentatively begin in July 2021. Below I’ve attached a LINK to an article on the City of Villa Hills that discusses the Z21 process that they have been working on with PDS for around 2-years now. When completed, the Kenton County Z21 Blueprint Zoning Ordinance will update existing zoning codes that were adopted decades ago with a more flexible, streamlined and simpler ordinance that communities throughout Kenton County can customize to meet a city’s own individual needs. The City of Villa Hills is the first in Kenton County passing the new ordinance.

There were other cities in Kenton County (Group #1) that went through the Z21 process also with Villa Hills. The Z21 process was broken into two groups. Crescent Springs will be in Group #2.
