MAYOR LOU HARTFIEL PASSED AWAY APRIL 11, 2021

It is with great sadness that the City announces the passing of our beloved Mayor Lou Hartfiel. Mayor Hartfiel passed away peacefully yesterday, surrounded by his family. The Mayor was truly dedicated to making our City a great place to live and work. He served on City Council from 2011 – 2014 after having served on Council in the 1990s. He was instrumental in the creation of the Crescent Springs Community Park. He was elected to the position of Mayor in 2014. Mayor Hartfiel worked tirelessly to improve our City, kept our tax rates low and helped create memorable events for residents in the Park. Mayor Hartfiel was key figure in designing and raising funds for the three Monuments in the Park: the Kenton County Veterans Memorial, the 9/11 Memorial and the Charters of Freedom. He was Chairman of the Veterans Memorial and ASA Liaison. In the future, the Monuments will be a testament to his patriotism and service to our country, and especially, to our City and to Northern Kentucky. In 2019, The Mayor polled the residents and gathered the input. He truly took your thoughts and desires to heart. In his last term, he labored to see as many of your wishes come to fruition as he could. His citizens genuinely mattered! Mayor Hartfiel will be greatly missed by the City Staff and Council. Please keep the Hartfiel family in your thoughts and prayers. As we receive information on his funeral we will have this information on Facebook and the City Website.
