A Letter from the Mayor
Contract with Erlanger Police to End
Dear Residents and Business Owners,
Our City’s Police services have been contracted out to the Erlanger Police Department since 2008. The current contracted pricing amounts to over $1 million a year (in our City budget of $2.5 million) and the contract is scheduled to end June 30, 2018. Due to this high cost, and results from residents and businesses survey responses, Council has voted to terminate the contract when it ends in June.
The City is currently working with the Northern Kentucky Area Development District in order to solicit bids for police services to begin at the expiration of the Erlanger contract. A select committee will review the proposals of interested and qualified police agencies which will include Erlanger Police Department should they submit a proposal. The committee will then present their findings and make a recommendation to council. The cost of bringing back the Crescent Springs Police Department is also being reviewed.
The City of Crescent Springs is very grateful to the leadership of the City of Erlanger and the employees of the Erlanger Police Department for the past ten years of protection. We look forward to working with the Erlanger Police Department through the end of the contract period and partnering to ensure a smooth transition to a new police services provider, if applicable.
Sincerely,
Lou Hartfiel
Mayor
